Maybe China’s time-bomb is none other than the fact that less females are being born than males. According to official statistics, for every 100 girls born, 197 boys are born – nearly double. It seems as if the traditional preference for a male child may just bring China to its knees in the next few years. Already females are being kidnapped by desperate men who can’t find wives….Mao wanted the Chinese to go forth and multiply – and they did, going from 400 million in the 1960’s to over a billion by the next generation. Now they have to be controlled to stop their over-population. Let’s see what happens…should be interesting.
China’s government claims its one-child policy has successfully reined in the country’s population, but it has also led to the disappearance of millions of baby girls in the 30 years since it was introduced.
The town of Wuxue in southern China looks normal enough. Pedicabs ply its narrow streets; hawkers sell steaming bowls of rice noodles to passers-by.
But in Wuxue’s primary school something is amiss.
In one classroom of white-washed walls and wooden desks a group of seven-year-olds learn to pipe on the bamboo Chinese flute. Of 40 students just nine are girls.
Next door, another class practice their calligraphy, copying down hieroglyphs in neat rows. Once again, most of the children grappling with their pencils are boys.
The little girls of Wuxue are not being denied an education. Rather, they simply don’t exist. According to official statistics, for every 100 girls there are 197 boys.
It is the worst example of gender imbalance in China, but a similar pattern exists across the country. The cause is an unintended result of the one-child policy: sex selective abortions.
The Chinese government says three decades of state-controlled family planning has prevented 400 million births, a feat achieved with the threat of heavy fines for extra births and the provision of free contraception.
Abortion – which is largely free of stigma in China – is also encouraged to terminate excess pregnancies.
But a traditional preference for male children and the increasing availability of ultrasound technology have intersected.
The result: the widespread use of abortion to guarantee a baby boy, throwing the country’s demographics off balance.
By 2020 it is thought there will be 50 million men who cannot find a wife. In a culture where marriage and reproduction are considered the highest moral duties the result is a social time bomb.
Kidnapping of women as brides is already common in China’s countryside. In one case last year in the northern province of Shanxi, 25 women were rescued from a village where they had been sold for £3,000 a head to men who could not find wives.
Experts predict that kidnappings will rise as further generations of boys grow up to find a shortage of women.
To try to even up the numbers, the government has banned pre-natal sex testing. But the regulation is ignored by many hospitals for which ultrasounds are a lucrative business.
In Wuxue, parents gathered at the school gate seemed loath to admit that there was a preponderance of boys.
Most denied a preference for male children. Only one old man picking up his granddaughter said that he wanted to speak the truth.
He said: “We can only have one child, so when people fall pregnant they go to the hospital for an ultrasound and if it’s a girl they get rid of it. That’s why you can see so many boys here.”
As the one-child policy enters its fourth decade that male majority will likely continue to grow, fuelled by a strange combination of state-enforced family planning, new technology, and age-old prejudices.
Kind of ironic that a white mistress has destroyed the political aspirations of the racist Jessie Jackson family – and managed to turn the African American female community against them as well!
Jessie Jackson Jr. son of legendary racial hustler Jessie Jackson is in some trouble in Chicago. Law enforcement officials apparently have released tapes of a top Hindu Indian American financial supporter of Jessie Jackson offering a $6 million bribe to former IL Governor Rob Blagojevich to make Jessie Jackson Jr. the US Senator (the Senate seat Obama gave up). Now it comes out that this same Hindu Indian financial supporter of Jessie Jr. was paying to fly a White, blonde Washington restaurant hostess to come see Jessie Jr. in Chicago. So Jessie Jackson Jr. has a young, blonde mistress and shady Indian financial supporters are paying for her. Very interesting that the Chicago Sun Times is reporting this story, featuring it – and the Black community is turning a bit on Jessie Jackson Jr for chasing White women.
Some fun immigration facts from Canada. Makes for some very scary and depressing reading…
Did you know?
1. Immigration increases the size of Canada’s population and economy, but does NOT improve Canadians’ standard of living.
2. It is estimated that recent immigrants receive BILLION$ of dollars a year more in benefits, than they pay in taxes.
3. Only 17% of immigrants admitted each year are fully assessed on the basis of their employment and language skills. (Or conversely, a whopping 83% of new immigrants are NOT assessed!)
4. While the average age of Canadians is increasing and the proportion of seniors will almost double in the next few decades, immigration will do very little to offset this trend despite the widely held belief that it will do so.
5. There are more than 100,000 (FOREIGN) parents and grandparents of immigrants who have met requirements and are waiting to enter Canada. They will receive the benefits of our public health care system without having contributed to costs by paying income tax.
6. Most of the quarter of million people who immigrate to Canada every year are NOT interviewed by a visa officer, to determine if they are well-suited to integrate into Canadian society and its economy.
7. Far more Canadians want immigration levels LOWERED rather than increased. Despite this, and the lack of economic or demographic benefits to Canadians, we maintain the highest per capita intake in the world.
8. In terms of Canadians’ attitude towards a multicultural mosaic, a 2007 survey indicated that 18% thought that it is reasonable to accommodate religious and cultural minorities while 53% thought immigrants should adapt fully to Canadian culture.
9. The number of visible-minority neighbourhoods in Canada’s three largest cities (Toronto, Montreal & Vancouver) increased from six in 1981 to 254 in 2001.
10. Canada’s acceptance rate for refugee claimants is three times (3X) the average of other countries, suggesting that two-thirds of those accepted would probably NOT be considered genuine refugees by other countries.
11. In 2003, Canada accepted 76% of refugee claims by Sri Lankans, while Britain accepted 2% and Germany 4%. That year Canada accepted 1,749 refugee claims by Sri Lankans while all other countries (combined) accepted only 1,160.
12. Canada, uniquely among nations, allows (foreign) nationals of many democratic countries with good human rights records to make refugee claims in Canada on the basis that they fear persecution in their (own) homelands.
The Thin-Skinned One must be really desperate to turn to the Rolling Stone liberal trash rag to try and bolster his image and to take a swipe at Fox news. Boo hoo – Fox news doesn’t like me – whhaaaaa. Big sook. Anyhow, apparently he thinks Fox news is bad for the long term growth of America – WTF? I think he’s got that wrong – the only thing that is bad for the long term growth of America is HIM and his bandits. Now he’s appealing to the only empty heads that would still vote for him – the young voter and “independents”. He knows he has the black vote as they only vote for one of their own – no matter how ineffective the person is.
Barack Obama has begun the fightback against his critics in the U.S. with a hard-hitting interview in Rolling Stone magazine.
The U.S. President singles out Fox News for criticism as he tackles the banking crisis, U.S. troops in Afghanistan, the strength of the Tea Part movement, global warming and his decision to sack General Stanley McChrystal in the wide-ranging article.
But it was Rupert Murdoch’s television network that came in for the most blistering attack as Obama labelled it ‘ultimately destructive for the long-term growth’ of the U.S.
He said: ‘It is part of the tradition that has a very clear, undeniable point of view.
‘It’s a point of view that I disagree with. It’s a point of view that I think is ultimately destructive for the long-term growth of a country that has a vibrant middle class and is competitive in the world.
‘But as an economic enterprise, it’s been wildly successful. And I suspect that if you ask Mr Murdoch what his number-one concern is, it’s that Fox is very successful.’
Obama is clearly aiming to bolster his party image with the appearance in the pop culture bible ahead of the mid-term elections in November.
The magazine – which has a circulation of 1.4million in the U.S. – goes on sale on Friday as the Obama administration attempts to avoid a Republican takeover in the House of Representatives.
It comes out after a poll run by Fox News stated the majority of Americans turn to the network to get trusted political coverage.
In the article, the President reveals he turns to his music collection to help him get through the ‘difficult days’.
He revealed his iPod has around 2,000 songs, including tracks by Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan and rapper Lil Wayne.
Obama has been trying to fire up Democratic voters through a flurry of interviews and lightning campaign stops across the U.S.
He was in New Mexico and Wisconsin yesterday trying to appeal to young voters and independents who backed him when he swept into the White House in the 2008 presidential election.
Today he will head to the birthplace of his political triumph – Iowa – and will finish with a meeting with voters in Richmond, Virginia.
With the U.S. economy struggling to recover and unemployment still near 10 per cent, Republicans are expected to make big gains in the mid-term elections.
All 435 seats in the House and 37 of 100 Senate seats are at stake in what is known as a midterm election, so-called because it falls half way through the four-year presidential term.
Obama took office in January 2009 with a huge Democratic majority in the House and an effective 10 seat edge in the Senate, counting two political independents who vote with the Democrats.
This post is just to show the international readers how brilliant South Africa is at making an ass of itself. Schalk Burger is a Springbok rugby player who wore an old South African Police cap to a concert held at a restaurant. The police sent 6 – yes, 6 police members to ensure that he handed the cap over to them as it is “illegal” to wear anything with the police emblem unless you are a police official. I’m sure the South African public feel so much safer now that this criminal has been put in his place! It sure beats the police from having to walk the streets and stop murders, rapes and robberies….this is far more important than actual crime. BTW – South Africa has the highest murder and rape stats in the world but they can spare 6 on-duty police officers to retrieve an old cap.
Hermanus – Six armed police officers on Saturday apparently stormed into a restaurant here during a concert by Louise Carver – because of a police cap worn by Schalk Burger.
“It was like something out of a play,” one of the restaurant patrons said.
The restaurant was packed with locals and tourists that were attending the Whale Festival.
The police confronted Springbok flank Burger, who was wearing an old cap with the emblem of the old police service.
Lieutenant Colonel André Traut told reporter Kobus Pretorius on Wednesday that it was illegal to wear anything with the police emblem unless you are a police official.
“If it happens, the circumstances will be considered, as well as what the emblem was used for. The emblem, or the item of clothing on which it is worn, will be confiscated and in serious instances a person may be arrested. Every case is treated on its merits,” he said.
A witness of the incident said that the restaurant manager spotted the trouble and spoke to the police officers.
“He offered to go to Burger himself and ask him to remove the cap and hand it over to the police.”
According to a police statement, three police officials that were on patrol handled the situation and another two joined them later on.
“The police officials kept standing at the door of the restaurant and did not go inside to speak to Burger. They used the waiters to negotiate with Burger and prevent an unpleasant situation in the restaurant.”
Burger later removed the cap and handed it over to the police.
He asked them what the problem was and they explained it to him.
“He was completely unaware that it was illegal to wear the SAP emblem and has not been prosecuted,” said the police.
However, restaurant patrons said that six police officials had stood in the middle of the restaurant.
“They were noisy, shouted and created a big scene.”
Chief manager Debra Harte said that management were disappointed with the manner in which the situation had been handled.
They are considering further steps as it was a disturbance and an embarrassment for their loyal clients.
Burger’s agent Craig Livingstone confirmed the incident and said the cap had been confiscated.
“Schalk loves Hermanus and will certainly be back for a visit.”
There are some worrying developments in Brazil. The current communist president, Lula is acting more and more like an out-of-control dictator. He has cherry picked his successor, Dilma Rousseff, and is campaigning for her on state money. The rest of the world is under the impression that Lula has been instrumental to Brazil’s recent success, but he was mostly against the very reforms that were introduced whilst he was in opposition. One of Lula’s biggest economic contributions was simply not to mess things up – and this was achieved by the abandonment of the far-left policies that he had once advocated. He has pursued a foreign policy that is either cynical or naive – praising authoritarians such as Chávez and Fidel Castro and pursuing a courtship of Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad. His preferred “successor” Dilma, is a convicted bank robber, murderer and a Marxist terrorist. Apparently, she is a nothing of note and word is that Lula picked her so he could remain president from behind her skirts. Happy days are indeed ahead for Brazil…
(San Paolo Corespondent – henrymakow.com)
It is possible that since Hitler’s burning of books in the public square, the world has not seen such a surreal situation: a protest inside the Journalists’ Union FOR the censorship of the press.
This is not the first time. Lula’s son, who used to be a humble zoo keeper, created a bogus TV production company and was awarded with R$ 10 million in contracts from a state company. He is now a multi-millionaire.
In fact, they have destroyed Brazil’s education system, and illiteracy is higher than when Lula took power. The ranking of Brazilian students in the world has dropped. Basic sanitation (sewerage) is in the same level. Health service is a disaster. 50,000 Brazilians die violent deaths, most because of drugs and guns that are brought into Brazil by the Colombian terrorist organization FARC, a friend and ally of the Party for decades.
Canada is starting to feel the same anti-immigration wave that Europe is currently experiencing. People are starting to speak up – no longer afraid of the red-herring racist and xenophobic charges that usually goes with this discussion. Which western country can add over 250 000 immigrants annually and still offer the same standard of education, health and safety that the citizens have enjoyed previously. The benefits of a high level of immigration aren’t worth costs that include considerable government expenditures and higher housing costs, pollution and crowding in big Canadian cities. Welfare refugees – me thinks your days are numbered…
A pillar of the Canadian establishment, brushing aside the risk he could become embroiled in one of the country’s most sensitive political issues, is endorsing a new organization challenging Canadian immigration policy.
Derek Burney is a former senior corporate chief executive, former ambassador to the U.S., one-time chief of staff to Brian Mulroney, and served as the head of Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s transition team after the Conservatives won the 2006 election.
Canadian society, he said, needs to stop treating immigration as an untouchable “third rail” that can’t be debated without prompting allegations of bigotry.
So he’s joined the advisory board of an organization being launched Tuesday on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
The Centre for Immigration Policy Reform will be headed by Martin Collacott, a former ambassador who writes frequently on immigration and refugee policy at the Fraser Institute, and James Bissett, a former director-general of the Canadian Immigration Service.
The new group argues the benefits of a high level of immigration aren’t worth costs that include considerable government expenditures and higher housing costs, pollution and crowding in big Canadian cities.
“Unfortunately immigration and refugee policy is a bit like health care in Canada,” Burney said in an interview.
“It’s being denied rational debate at the political level, and this is despite the very clear evidence of abuse of the system, of fraud in the system and a lack of coordination in the country in terms of screening.”
He says his major concern is that Canada’s economy has been chronically plagued by relatively low economic productivity, yet the large number of unskilled workers and family-class immigrants weakens productivity further.
Burney said politicians of all stripes refuse to discuss such concerns because some immigrant communities that lobby for high quotas of family-class immigrants are “very active” in federal politics.
Burney, 70, acknowledged he was courting controversy that could damage his legacy as a business executive and senior public servant who played a key role in the successful negotiation of the 1988 Canada-U. S. Free Trade Agreement.
He is an Order of Canada recipient, has several honorary degrees, and had a street named after him in his hometown of Thunder Bay, Ont.
But he said he felt it was time to take a stand in support of Collacott and Bissett, who have argued in relative obscurity for years that Canadian immigration policy needs reform.
“It’s a third-rail kind of issue, nobody wants to talk about it, it’s not for polite company,” said Burney, now an adviser to the Ogilvy Renault law firm and formerly chief executive officer of Bell Canada International and later of the CAE Inc. aviation firm.
Collacott and Bissett “have a great deal of knowledge about the subject, and they’re not irrational, they’re not emotional, they’re not racists.
“They’re simply trying to acquaint Canadians with the facts.”
The Centre for Immigration Policy Reform is an organization dominated by academics and former senior bureaucrats, many with links to Canada’s conservative movement, who argue that immigration levels are far too high and that refugee screening policy too lax.
Canada has in recent years brought in roughly 250,000 immigrants and refugees annually, and since 1990 has accepted more per capita than any country in the world, according to the Fraser Institute.
There are also 300,000 or so skilled and unskilled “temporary” workers in Canada, of which 192,500 arrived in 2009. And the government admitted 79,500 foreign students last year.
The critics say Canada’s policy is essentially hijacked by self-interested groups — employer groups seeking cheap labour even when there’s high unemployment, lawyers, advocates and consultants in what they call the “immigration industry,” and urban MPs from all parties who depend on immigrant groups for political support.
They also cite statistics and reports, including several from federal government researchers, showing that Canadian immigrants since the 1980s have struggled economically compared with the average Canadian.
Others backing the new group include Gilles Paquet, a frequent public commentator and professor emeritus at the University of Ottawa’s Centre on Governance, and Salim Mansur, a University of Western Ontario political scientist, columnist, former federal candidate for the Canadian Alliance party under Stockwell Day’s leadership, and author of Islam’s Predicament: Perspectives of a Dissident Muslim.
Collacott said his group is trying to avoid, rather than import, what he calls the “xenophobic” hostility that exists today in Europe against immigrants and minorities. To do that, mainstream parties need to debate the issue openly, he said.
“While we’ve done better than the Europeans in terms of integrating immigrants into society, there are lots of signals that we’re not doing well enough,” Collacott told Postmedia.
Canadians need to debate the questions “without being called ant-immigrant and racist.”
Oh – the great scam of our time. PC western governments are beating down the Climate Change door to get in on “alternative” energy industries – and the scam artists are just too eager to help them to alleviate them of their tax money. The UK government has bought into the wind farm con – where they are willing to pay up to 13 times more for “green” energy compared to nuclear energy. Just why are western governments against nuclear power stations? It’s the most “green” energy around, yet they all flee when it’s mentioned. Did all these twits get together behind our backs and decide to boycott nuclear across the board? Or could it be that it makes too much sense and therefore governments can’t justify increasing power bills, which of course won’t net as much bounty from the poor tax payer? Nuclear energy is much cheaper to produce and power stations have a longer life span. In any case, the con man in this article, some Swede company, will receive over £1.2 billion in subsidies over the next 20 years – enough to build a nuclear power station and enough to make the tax payer really feel the pain.
In all the publicity given to the opening of “the world’s largest wind farm” off the Kent coast last week, by far the most important and shocking aspect of this vast project was completely overlooked. Over the coming years we will be giving the wind farm’s Swedish owners a total of £1.2 billion in subsidies. That same sum, invested now in a single nuclear power station, could yield a staggering 13 times more electricity, with much greater reliability.
The first all-too-common mistake in the glowing coverage accorded to the inauguration of this Thanet wind farm by the Climate Change Secretary, Chris Huhne, was to accept unquestioningly the claims of the developer, Vattenfall, about its output. The array of 100 three-megawatt (MW) turbines, each the height of Blackpool Tower, will have, it was said, the “capacity” to produce 300MW of electricity, enough to “power” 200,000 (or even 240,000) homes.
This may be true at those rare moments when the wind is blowing at the right speeds. But the wind, of course, is intermittent, and the average output of these turbines will be barely a quarter of that figure. The latest official figures on the website of Mr Huhne’s own department show that last year the average output (or “load factor”) of Britain’s offshore turbines was only 26 per cent of their capacity.
Due to its position, the wind farm’s owners will be lucky to get, on average, 75MW from their windmills, a fraction of the output of a proper power station. The total amount of electricity the turbines actually produce will equate to the average electricity usage not of 240,000 homes, but of barely half that number.
A far more significant omission from the media reports, however, was any mention of the colossal subsidies this wind farm will earn. Wind energy is subsidised through the system of Renewables Obligation Certificates (ROCs), unwittingly paid for by all of us through our electricity bills. Our electricity supply companies are obliged to buy offfshore wind energy at three times its normal price, so that each megawatt hour of electricity receives a 200 per cent subsidy of £100.
This means that the 75MW produced on average by Thanet will receive subsidies of £60 million a year, on top of the £30-40 million cost of the electricity itself. This is guaranteed for the turbines’ estimated working life of 20 years, which means that the total subsidy over the next two decades will be some £1.2 billion. Based on the costings of the current French nuclear programme, that would buy 1 gigawatt (1,000MW) of carbon-free nuclear generating capacity, reliably available 24 hours a day – more than 13 times the average output of the wind farm.
The 100 turbines opened last week cost £780 million to build, which means that the £100 million a year its owners hope to earn represents a 13 per cent return on capital, enough to excite the interest of any investor. And these turbines are only the first stage of a project eventually designed to include 341 of them, generating subsidies of £1 billion every five years.
A final claim for the Thanet wind farm (which Mr Huhne boasts is “only the beginning”) is that it will create “green jobs” – although the developers say that only 21 of these will be permanent. These are thus costing, in “green subsidies” alone, £3 million per job per year, or £57 million for each job over the next 20 years. The Government gaily prattles about how it wants to create “400,000 green jobs”, which on this basis would eventually cost us £22.8 trillion, or 17 times the entire annual output of the UK economy.
If all this sounds dizzyingly surreal, the fact remains that we must begin to grasp just what the green fantasies of Mr Huhne, the EU and the rest are costing us. Even the Queen, we learn, tried to claim a “fuel poverty” allowance for her soaring electricity bills, which have risen 50 per cent in the past year. But a crucial first step towards getting some grip on reality must be for those who report on these wind farms to stop hiding away the colossal price we are all now having to pay for one of the greatest scams of our age.
Comrade Andy Stern, bosom buddy of Obama, is under FBI investigation for fraud. Mr Stern was the former labor leader for the SEIU – the union that heavily financed and supported Obama’s election campaign and which is ruining American democracy. Tut, tut, Mr Stern – is this why you left the SEIU abruptly? On another point – how can unions justify wasting $44 million of members fees to fund the upcoming congressional elections? Of course they’ll only be funding the Democrats. So my question – if I’m a forced SEIU member and I don’t vote for the Dems, then how democratic is it that the union uses my money to back their political nominees? It’s MY MONEY! Surely members fees should be used to better a members life – like health plans or pension savings. How dare unions use other peoples hard earned money to fund political parties! I’ve said it before and in case you’ve missed it – UNIONS ARE THE SCOURGE OF THE EARTH.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The FBI and the U.S. Labor Department are investigating prominent labor leader Andy Stern in their probe of corruption at the Service Employees International Union, according to two people who have been interviewed by federal agents.
Stern left his post two years before the end of his term, saying he wanted to focus more on his personal life. He remains a member of President Barack Obama’s deficit commission and a highly influential figure in the White House, where he was one of the most frequent visitors last year. He is also a research fellow at Georgetown University and a paid consultant for the SEIU.
