This I don’t understand. Obama and his OWS gang bleat on about the 1% not paying their fair share. Yet, every one of these actors that have contributed to Obama’s re-election campaign fall into this 1% category. Why would you donate money to a guy who clearly thinks that your money belongs to him to squander on his pet projects, backroom deals and his payback/Union schemes? It doesn’t make sense. And isn’t Sharon Stone supposed to be a member of MENSA – which means she should have more than 2 working brain cells, yet she too has donated money to this con man. How Obama must be laughing at these idiots. The country has gone no where but down under his leadership, yet they want more pain and agony and are willing to give money to make sure it happens. I don’t think they’ve quite connected the dots – that if the economy tanks anymore, then no one will have money to go watch their pathetic liberal movies. This is the classic ‘cut your nose off to spite your face’ idiocy that permeates the Left – just as long as those stupid Conservatives don’t get into power……duh.
President Barack Obama has made plenty of enemies in Washington, but he can still count on his friends in Hollywood.
A-list movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Will Smith and Melanie Griffith shelled out for Obama’s campaign in the last three months of 2011, according to federal filings released earlier this week.
Among the host of other Hollywood donors who ponied up for the president: Peter Fonda and his daughter Bridget; Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon; Richard Dean Anderson, who’s best known as “MacGyver;” Ed Harris, Tate Donovan and Hilary Duff of the Disney Channel’s “Lizzie McGuire” show.
Wendell Pierce, who played William “Bunk” Moreland in the HBO drama “The Wire”, soap opera star Deidre Hall and Jada Pinkett Smith are among the other actors who helped the Obama campaign haul in a hefty $40 million in the last three months of the year.
It’s not the first time stars have opened their wallets for Obama. A slew of other famous actors including George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Sharon Stone and Alec Baldwin lined the president’s campaign coffers earlier last year.
Michelle Obama attended a fundraising event in Beverly Hills this week packed with Hollywood insiders that brought in nearly $1 million for her husband’s re-election campaign, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Obama has some professional athletes in his corner, too. Dallas Mavericks forward Vince Carter and NHL player Michael Comrie (Hilary Duff’s husband) also donated to the president. Retired L.A. Lakers basketball star Earvin “Magic” Johnson also gave.
Among Obama’s bundlers who raised $50,000 or more in the last three months were Ari Emanuel, Hollywood super-agent and brother of former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel; DreamWorks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg; “Desperate Housewives” actress Eva Longoria; and Giselle Fernandez from “Dancing with the Stars.”
The leading GOP presidential candidates haven’t been nearly as successful raising cash from the Hollywood elite.
GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney scored donations from Scott Baio, known for his roles in “Happy Days” and “Charles in Charge” and from Tina Sloan, best known for her role on the soap opera “Guiding Light.”
